In search of a “perfect” style

Now days there are tens of styles of interior design in the world, and each of them has its own definition and characteristics, any one of them deserves attention and in-depth look. Of course, there is no “perfect” style, since style, just like everything else in the real life, is ever changing material, however, there are main style vectors we will tell you about.

Классический стиль

The most common and popular style is the classic style, of course. This style was formed in the end of XVIII century and retained its popularity until now. Main characteristics of a classic style are clear geometric forms, expensive and quality materials, strict proportions and harmony of all components. The furniture also bears geometric definitions, clear bounds between elements and simple direct outlines.

Стиль минимализм

Minimalism features maximum laconism of forms, lack of decorative elements or any ornaments. The minimalism interior has clear and simple composition, and based on using large monotone surfaces, and strict and elaborate geometric shapes. Everything in this interior is beautiful, robust and with maximum attention to functionality, they convey calm and relaxed ambience, and ensure a comfortable rest time.

Стиль ампир

Empire style in interior quotes Roman classics, often uses Egyptian motifs. This style is considered aristocratic, and never goes out of fashion. Furniture used in Empire style is grand, often from red wood or walnut, armchairs and chairs clearly demonstrate ancient Roman trends – soft curves of legs and backs of chars, and often the legs are crafted in form of lion or griffon claws. The Empire style is recognized from specific decorative elements – bronze or golden plates. But the most recognizable features of this style remain crossed swords and spears, helmets, shields, armor and laurel wreaths.

Стиль кантриCountry means literally a country style, since “country” in English means a small village. Country style uses only natural materials: wood, stone, bricks. An interior of this style often has cowboy elements, and antics, flowers and rare books as accessories. Country style is an antipode to a hurried urban lifestyle.

Стиль модерн

Modern is a refined style for a dolce vita, a style with harmony and slight understatement. The interior is predominated with soft curves, asymmetry and ornate lines. The interior of modern style looks especially delicate because of colors and patterns of finishes, stained glass added to windows and doors, and cast iron. Modern style is the most popular style in contemporary interior design not only in Russia, but also in Europe, and provides unlimited possibilities for creative work of architects and designers.

Стиль хай-тек

The high technology style – hi-tech, promotes the beauty of material itself. The hi-tech interior is recognized by brick works, artificially aged plaster, various beams and supports. Materials used for creating this style are mostly glass, metals and natural wood. It is impossible to mistaken hi-tech style with any other – total lack of decorative elements is compensated with lighting, shine of chrome-plated and metal surfaces.

Стиль хай-тек

Baroque is a contrast, dynamics, aspiration for grandeur and splendor. Baroque (Portuguese) – means ornate. Initially this word meant a pearl of irregular form. Baroque style was formed in the middle of XVII century. The Baroque interiors all speak of wealth and prestige of their owner. This style features bright colors, rich light effects, and delicate silhouettes of interior elements. One of the key elements of Baroque style is a wall, or, more exactly, its softness, due to unprecedented dynamics the wall seems to lose its monumentality. This interior uses lots of mirrors, gold-plated moldings and ceiling frescos with space “overflow” effect into bottomless sky.

Стиль хай-текRococo style is recognized by aspiring for rich decorative elements, florid ornaments, numerous mirrors. Rococo style emerged in the beginning of XVIII century in France, "rococo" (French.) –refined,  bizarre. Rococo is represented by curvy lines, absolute lack of geometry and strict lines. Like Baroque, major role in Rococo interior is played by mirrors, which are framed in delicate carved and gold-plated wood. This style uses pastel tones; the most common combination of colors is a mix of golden and white. Rococo interiors typically use fireplaces, clocks, china ware; Chinese, Japanese and Persian motifs are used in ornaments.
